The question we hear most
“Can we just use ComfyUI in the cloud?” Yes, and sometimes you should. The people asking usually have three worries underneath the question: they do not want to set up a machine, they are not sure a GPU is worth buying, and they are not sure where their product photos end up. All three are fair. The answer depends on how often your team will generate, and on what the images are of.
What ComfyUI cloud means in 2026
ComfyUI itself is free and open source. What costs money is the GPU it runs on, and there are three ways to get one.
- ComfyUI’s own cloud service. The makers of ComfyUI host it on large data-centre GPUs with hundreds of models preinstalled. You buy credits and they are consumed while the GPU runs. It also offers partner models from commercial providers that you cannot run locally, and by default your inputs, outputs and workflows are private to your account.
- Third-party ComfyUI hosting platforms. Similar idea, often with an API for calling workflows from other software, and the same metered billing.
- Your own ComfyUI server. ComfyUI installed on a machine in your office or a rack, reached remotely by everyone on the team. The GPU is yours, the models are yours, and the meter is off.
So, is ComfyUI cloud free? The software is. The GPU time is metered on every hosted option, and that meter is what this comparison is about.
Where hosted ComfyUI wins
We will say this plainly because clients deserve it. A hosted service is the right choice when your team generates occasionally, when you need burst capacity for video models that want far more memory than a workstation card offers, or when the work depends on a proprietary partner model that only exists in the cloud. Setup is zero, and if usage stays light, the credits stay cheap.
Where a private ComfyUI server wins
The picture flips once a team generates every day.

- Data stays in Singapore, on your hardware. Source product photos, unreleased packaging, client faces and campaign concepts never leave the building. Under the PDPA you remain responsible for that data wherever it goes, and the simplest way to meet that duty is to keep it on a machine only you use.
- Unlimited users. A hosted account is one balance. A private server is the whole company, with roles and an admin panel.
- Version control. ComfyUI updates every few days. On your own server you pin the version, the models and the custom nodes, so last month’s workflow still runs this month.
- The API is yours. ComfyUI exposes an API, which means automations can request images without a person clicking. A product listing pipeline or a WhatsApp agent can call the same server the designers use.
Running ComfyUI remotely for the whole team
Remote access is the part people overestimate. The server sits on your network or in a rack, ComfyUI runs as a service, and staff open it in a browser from their own laptops. Nobody installs anything.

If nobody on your side will own the machine, do not buy one.
